FIELD NOTES / PRICE FORMAT
A price to review.
One cell at a time.
AI-assisted guide · Checked November 4, 2026. The example uses a fictional file, not a verified import into a real Shopify store.
$32.00 is readable, but the currency sign does not belong in a Shopify CSV price value. Shopify’s product CSV reference specifies an amount without a currency symbol. Current exports use Price; older templates can use Variant Price, and Shopify supports older column names. Confirm the intended amount and the store or market currency before editing. Changing this text does not convert currencies.
Keep a backup and a clear intention
Work on a copy of your export. Compare the value with your source records before changing it to 32.00. Avoid a whole-file command that removes currency signs: descriptions can legitimately contain them. Do not guess exchange rates, decimal separators or missing amounts. Review each affected field in context.
Try the change on a fictional sample
Open the CSV checker and choose Try an example file. You can also inspect the sample CSV. It has five data rows. Keep Apply conservative whitespace fixes off for this exercise so that only your manual edit changes the file.
- Find CSV record 3, field
Price, and select Edit value. Record numbers include the header as record 1. - In Field value, replace
$32.00with32.00, then choose Save & recheck. - Select View change log. Check that it records the original text, revised text and one manual change.
| Sample state | Errors | Warnings | Changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original five data rows | 3 | 2 | 0 |
| After the one-cell edit | 2 | 2 | 1 manual |
Read the remaining findings
The two remaining errors still need attention: the sample contains a Status value of published and an image value of not-a-url. Choose the intended product status rather than letting a checker choose it. The supported status values are active, draft and archived. An image needs a suitable URL; this checker does not fetch it.
The warnings include surrounding price whitespace and a repeated SKU. Repeated SKUs can be intentional. Preserve repeated product handles, variant rows and intentionally blank continuation titles while investigating. This price edit is one correction, not evidence that the whole catalog is ready.
Export a review copy
Choose Export report for the findings and change record, and Export product CSV for the revised file. Both can still contain unresolved findings. This five-row example fits the free preview’s 100-data-row export limit. CSV processing stays in your browser.
Before a real import, keep your backup, review Shopify’s import preview and consult its common import problems guide for errors returned by Shopify. Selected local field checks cannot guarantee acceptance or predict changes to your store.
